first meetingThe 27th of August 2020 took place the kickoff meeting of the group dealing with the development of the first international guideline on the assessment of odour exposure by using dispersion modelling. To date, there are already 36 professionals from Belgium, Italy, France, Chile, Ecuador, Australia, Brazil, United Kingdom, Ireland, China, Spain, USA, India, Peru, Qatar and Austria participating in this initiative.

   This development is being led by Dr. Günther Schauberger, professor of the University of Veterinary Medicine of Vienna,  and Ms. Jennifer Barclay, principal scientist of Atmospheric Science Global (ASG) in New Zealand. The list of volunteers in this initiative at this stage is the following:

Sulfide Modeling in Sewer Systems

Sewervac   Sewervac new mathematical modeling tool for the sulfur ion allows to model the routes of the sulfide ion to identify at which points we will have the highest sulfide’s concentrations and consequently hydrogen sulphide (H2S), the conversion rates of sulfur to hydrogen sulphide, the origin of the hydrogen sulphide peaks and what it can be done to avoid it.

   The continuous investment in R+D has allowed the company Sewervac to present 2.0 version, developing software that provides a much more graphic and intuitive data output.

Technology and big data in odour control management

   During 2018, Chile began to generate quality standards for offensive odors. The priority of the authority was defined by type of activity and the historical number of complaints per year raised by citizens for every type of industry. From the analysis, five industries were selected for the first stage, among which the Chilean Kraft pulp industry was part of, activity representing approximately 2% of world production.

   Facing complaints, the lack of development planning and land use, the absence of quality standards the null international and bibliographic experience of how to proceed with odor management in this type of industry contributed to creating the necessary need to generate online, integrated, prompt response tools that could allow the odor impact to be managed efficiently in real time.
