dos conference berlin   Olfaction, a topic of interest in several scientific fields, has gradually become a topic of the future. Following the latest advances in the Research related to olfaction, the challenge is to tranfer this knowledge towards innovative technology.

   Nowadays, there is no way to escape the digital world whatsoever when using a computer, a mobile phone or even means of transportation. Hearing, vision, touch are currently an integral part of numerous electronic devices which we use on a daily basis. Then, how about digitizing smells? This complex concept aims at turning any odorous source into a digital media which can be applied to our lifestyle.

   The objective of the Digital Olfaction Society (DOS) is to gather, share, and complete the knowledge recently established about olfactory digitization, to build up constructive links between leading researchers and industrialists in order to set up appropriate strategies in order to implement Research & Development through practical applications with a high impact on our lifestyle thanks to the potential of olfactory digitization.


   The aim of the first Digital Olfaction Society World Congress 2013 is to discuss:

ISOEN 2013. 15 Simposio Internacional sobre olfacción y narices electrónicas. 2-5 julio, en Daegu, Korea

  With the rapid development of Sensors and strong cooperative supports from government and companies in Korea, this conference is the first meeting in Asia after other successful conferences hold in Europe and USA, and it will give the opportunity to expand ISOEN and introduce ISOCS (International Society for Olfaction and Chemical Sensing) worldwide. The next ISOEN 2013, 15th International Symposium on olfaction and Electronic Nose will take place on July 2-5, 2013  in Daegu, Korea.

ISOEN brings together experts in various fields, from biomedical, environmental, materials, energy engineering to artificial intelligent community to discuss the state of the art in olfaction and electronic nose and develop cutting edge research and technology in this field.

BIOTECHNIQUES 2013. 5ª Conferencia Internacional sobre Biotécnicas para el Control de la Contaminación Atmosférica y la Energía en Nimes, Francia 10-13 septiembre 2013

Biotechniques 2013  Esta es la Quinta Conferencia Internacional sobre Biotécnicas para el control de la Contaminación Atmosférica y la Bioenergía. Por primera vez está conferencia tendrá lugar en Francia, en la ciudad de Nimes (sur de Francia). La conferencia tiene lugar bianualmente. A Coruña albergó esta conferencia  en los años 2005, 2007 y 2011 y la ciudad de Delft (Países Bajos) albergó la sesión del año 2009.


   Como se ha señalado durante las pasadas conferencias, los bioprocesos y las biotécnicas en general proporcionan una creciente variedad de oportunidad para soluciones económicas y medioambientalmente amigables para muchas emisiones de gases industriales incluyendo las emisiones de olor, gases de efecto invernadero y Compuestos Orgánicos Volátiles contenidos en gases. La Conferencia sobre biotécnicas se ha convertido en un evento muy popular reuniendo tanto a investigadores e ingenieros de procesos relacionados con la prevención y el control de la contaminación atmosférica. Las biotécnicas disponibles actualmente representan las tecnologías establecidas, aunque varios aspectos están aun en estado de desarrollo con programas de investigación en marcha. Por ejemplo, el uso de nuevos medios y diseños, el conocimiento de los mecanismos microbianos que ocurren en los bioreactores, la evaluación de la robustez de los bioreactores durante operaciones a largo plazo, el desarrollo de sistemas híbridos (bioreactor/bioreactor , técnicas físico-químicas/biotécnicas), escalado de procesos o aplicaciones a escala industrial.
Con respecto al sector de la energía, se están desarrollando nuevas alternativas a los combustibles fósiles en respuesta a los requerimientos duales del cambio climático y la seguridad energética. Una reciente e interesante aproximación consiste en el desarrollo de conceptos de tratamiento de gases sostenibles/sustentables a través de la conversión de las emisiones de gases industriales en biocombustibles más limpios que pueden obtenerse de fuentes más económicas que los combustibles fósiles. Algunos ejemplos se presentaron durante la última conferencia y los avances en esta aproximación innovadora se discutirán sin ninguna duda durante esta Conferencia de 2013.


   La 5ª Conferencia Internacional sobre Biotécnicas para el Control de la Contaminación Atmosférica y la Energía en Nimes, Francia, proporcionará una buena oportunidad para una gran y diversa comunidad de investigadores, estudiantes de doctorado y profesionales de los sectores municipal, consultoría y gestión de residuos además de fabricantes de equipos para el control de olores y otros sectores industriales y agrícolas, para compartir información sobre los recientes avances en el uso de bioprocesos y bioenergía para resolver los problemas de contaminación del aire.
